New Problem!

Hey all, I just learned of a new and irritating problem with the Kicks. I bought a 2018 Kicks SR a couple of months ago and enjoy the vehicle. As it has gotten cooler here in the Midwest I noticed a problem with the interior temperature. When the temp gauge is set at 60 or 61 degrees the system blows very cold air, as soon as the gauge is set to 62, the system starts blowing hot air, there is no way to get just warm air or to be comfortable. I took the vehicle for service yesterday and was told by the dealer (after two hours of trying to determine the problem) that it was just designed that way. They indicated that there were several other complaints in the system for the same issue and they found that the system was designed to fully open the heater blend door at 63 degrees. This effectively means that you can set it at 60-62 degrees and be cold or set it at 63 degrees which is the same thing as 90 degrees, full open blend door. The dealer stated that there is no way to make a fix to this, but rather, Nissan has to provide a fix and will only do so if they receive enough customer complaints.

I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing the same thing and noticing that they can not find a comfortable temperature? If you do, I ask that you log a complaint so Nissan will provide a fix to the dealers. My dealer admitted that it was a design flaw and should not be this way.

New Problem! Ac not working

My kicks ac does not work. At 61 it’s ice cold and 62 hot. A Nissan rep came out in Monday to look at my car after I sent Nissan a letter. He agreed the car is doing that. We tested a new one on the lot and it did the same. He said if they all do it then it is considered standard and they won’t do anything about it. This is really ridiculous. I bought 2019 sr kicks because my ac was broken in my old car. I love the car but it is definitely
a lemon. I am sure when I hear back they will say they can’t do anything. Next step will be to call the attorney general and the state corporation commission. I am also researching the lemon laws in my state. Really disappointing
Let me know how it goes. I will log a complaint with you. Ridiculous.

Hi Mella, have you tried this?
The Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Plan

If you cannot resolve the issue with the manufacturer, you may be eligible for the CAMVAP.
This program can help you resolve disputes with automobile manufacturers. Most vehicles purchased or leased in Canada and made in the last four years are covered by CAMVAP. CAMVAP provides binding arbitration that may be an alternative to court.
The resolutions under this program can range from reimbursement for vehicle repairs to manufacturer buyback of the defective vehicle.
No I have not gone that route yet. I am in contact with another Canadian who is in the middle of his arbitration case. I have tried negotiating with the dealership to let me upgrade to a different car and except smaller increase in payments but they have refused. I'm currently typing up my formal notice letter. If I'm unable to get this resolved then I will take it to small claims court.

I have a 2019 Kicks SR. Had mine in the dealer for the last several will days with the same issue. Just got a call today, the dealer said that is a common problem with no fix from Nissan as of yet. I’m constantly changing mine from 61 to 62 degrees.

Hi, I have a 2019 Nissan Kicks SV with the exactly same problem. I took it to the dealer and they said it was designed that way. By researching the internet and comparing problems, I believe the "climate control" on the Nissan Kicks SV and SR has a software or design problem, like the Boeing 737 Max. I strongly recommend you open a case with Nissan USA and also an arbitration case with the American equivalent of the "CANADIAN MOTOR VEHICLE ARBITRATION".
I just put it at 63 degrees and have it on low low low and out the front vents by the windshield. This seems to keep the heat from blowing me away and stays pretty comfortable.

Let me know what I can do to help get Nissan to do something about this. Sooo annoying. Shame on Nissan for being lazy with the AC/Heater at the price we are paying for the car. Shame.
I have a 2019, but the auto temperature settings are still not very accurate, end up switch to manual and cranking up the AC fan most of the time. I have noticed that the AC compressor kicks on and off a lot, I hear the click and less than a minute later another click a few minutes later again. Very random and frequent. Is it normal for this car? My other cars have never done this.
I have the same problem with my kicks SR 2018. Nissan know the problem since almost day one and are unable to fix it. This is not a space shuttle!! I don’t unsderstand why they did not solve this yet.

Everyone having this but should contact his dealer. They will put pressure on Nissan.
Call your dealer service and tell them you have the bug with your heating system hot at 19 Celsius and cold at 18 Celsius. They will add your mame to the list, They are well aware of the problem.
Keep faith!
I made two seperate dealerships service department managers sit in my car and physically showed them. They didn't know what to say after that. Basically, I got the "car is just made that way"
No resolve from Nissan Canada either (they tried to buy me off with a $300 service credit)

I've also got a radio problem (randomly shuts down) and my anti collision sensor beeps when there is nobody in front of me ?
I’ve had so many issues with my anti collision sensor. The first time was because there was a recall on it and the second time was because it wasn’t calibrated properly when it was installed.. but I also have the same exact issues with the AC and heat settings.. I’ve found that turning the fan down all the way helps tremendously.... but as of now my kicks is having some other issue of it’s own.. I got in it after work one evening and the engine light was on.. after turning the car on and off about 3 times i decided to try and make it home and then my traction control light came on then the anti collision sensor came on and then the master warning light came on... (this was on a Friday evening) so I call the dealership the next morning and “they’re only doing oil changes and tire rotations, I’ll have to bring it in Monday” well, Monday rolls around and all the lights had turned themselves off by them..but they tell me they were able to retrieve the malfunction code that was thrown and apparently the only reports of it are in French.. so then about 3 hours later they tell me “we think it might be a wiring issue, but we need the car‘s engine light to come back on to properly diagnose the issue” ?

I have a 2019 SR model.and have the same issue as well. Get roasted out the car if it gets past 62
Hello all, I have a 2018 Kicks and have been experiencing some problems. Currently holding 27059 miles, and when coming to a stop the engine starts shaking. Does anyone else have this problem?

Sorry, accidentally hit post.
Thank you for the information on arbitration in Canada. I have a 2019 SV that I purchased in September 2019 in Calgary that has the exact same problem. Going through a Canadian winter without a working heater in a brand new car is completely unacceptable. The dealer did get an engineer from Nissan in to thoroughly examine the heating system. It’s very frustrating because they’ve well documented the problem but don’t have a fix for it. I’m only being told that it is a software issue and they’ll get to it when they get to it. I’m wondering how we could go about banding together to make a bigger impact as to the seriousness of this problem? Nissan needs to be responsible for their products.

Hi Mella Bee,
I’m In Alberta and have the exact same problem with my 2019 SV. All the dealer will say after having my car for 2 days to examine it, is they know the problem and are working on it. I’m becoming impatient. Have you made any headway?

I've sent my demand letter and they never answered. Because of Covid-19, I'm unable to put my claim in with small claims.

How about you? Any news?

Sadly, no, nothing at all. The dealership is ignoring me now. The arbitration organization told me to be patient. I guess the consumer hasn’t any rights. It’s very frustrating to call Nissan Canada only to be treated like I’m the problem.
Having the same issue in my kicks SV 61 cold 62 and up is 90 degrees. took it back to the dealership (Michael Jordan Nissan) three times they replaced a sensor on one occasion then replaced a sensor board the second time after that didn't work the third time i left the car there to wait for a Nissan tech to come inspect it. in hope that they would bye back the car so i can have a vehicle that works 100%. simple right!!! the car was sitting at the dealership for almost 2 months waiting for the Nissan tech to come and inspect it only for them to tell me it is operating as it is designed. they offered me $1500 dollars as a settlement for the inconvenience and for the repairs made on the car already that weren't needed. in turn i would have to agree not to sue them at any point in the future. and i'm still stuck with a car that doesn't work. has this happen to any one else?
Do you have that from them in writing by chance? The asking but to sue and settlement offer? Please let me know
