Well, considering we know it's in other places but the decision to bring it to NA isn't official, I'm really hoping it comes through. Looks pretty darn sporty and I especially love the interior. Flat bottom steering wheel, 7inch screen. Looks nice. But what I like even more is that it should come in with a price tag around $20k which is phenomenal for what you're getting.

But, KickBacks is I and thanks for having me on this forum. Really looking forward to sharing my findings here with you guys and having discussions on my next (potentially) new vehicle!

Welcome to this forum.

What are you driving around currently and have you been looking at any other vehicles in this segment? That last part will be trouble for Nissan since they are a late comer to the segment with a new product, Juke was overdue for retirement.

I'm hoping to see it in NA too, but Nissan may be looking at how the new Kicks would affect the sale of their current lineup like the Qashqai or Rogue.

Currently I'm driving around in a 98' Civic. I have been looking around but ultimately waiting until I see the Kicks in person before making any sort of concrete decisions.

I think the Kicks can stand alongside the Rogue though. I feel like they have enough differences to make it work and they'll appeal to different markets.

Don't depend on that lasting too long since both models sort of serve the same purpose. This might turn out being Nissan's way to start a new chapter and get rid of the Rogue. Last thing they need are two models for one purpose. Acura has done some trimming and Lexus is next.

But after seeing the new Rogue Sport.. it really does look like quite the better looker than the Kicks is. Albeit, it's slightly bigger but it looks pretty darn good.

That being said, the Nissan Kicks will undoubtedly get an update to maybe match the aggression of the Rogue Sport and Maxima at some point.

Doubt that will happen since both designs just came out recently unless you have some information or insight which points to that fact. Personally I prefer the boxier design, cars are getting too curvy these days.

To each their own, but the Kicks is already a new model and updates don't occur so soon after. But there's no harm in waiting to see if the Kicks will arrive, if all else fails you can always get an older model year Rouge for cheap later on.

Those are nice but I was thinking about the Mazda CX-3 and Nissan doesn't have that great of a reputation when it comes to reliability, so that might be my out. CX-3 is a solid offering in this segment.

I've never been a big fan of Mazda grilles, but if we're looking at alternatives outside of Nissan, the options are endless though a bit more vanilla. I'd probably just spring for a Toyota when the time comes and the Kicks still hasn't made its way overseas.

Same here, Mazda 3's never used to be attractive to me, years ago it was more so the Civic but now the tables have turned, Honda isn't nearly as attractive and Mazda has the market in their hands.

The only better compact to me back in those days was the impreza.

The Impreza looks fine these days, but nothing really stands out to me and Honda's build quality seems to have gone down recently if what I've read about the new Civic is true. There's always the C-HR, but I heard the drive felt lackluster.

That's typically the general feedback I'm hearing for the C-HR. The Impreza has been going through a heck of a lot of infotainment issues from what I've heard though but I also heard Subaru is compensating owners with gifts like crazy.

Not sure about gifts, but new car incentives are on the rise in the States for light vehicles. If Nissan really decides to hold back on selling the Kicks in the States, they may have a hard time getting a foothold later on when people have moved on to other brands because of the dealer incentives.

But light vehicles refers to sedans and coupes, not crossovers and SUVs so incentives really isn't a concern. There's also the ongoing boom for the segment so even if the Kicks enter a bit later, there's still going to be plenty of buyers for a nice and affordable vehicle.

It all depends on how much later that it comes about though as everything has it`s time and if they wait too long, the interest won`t be there. For example, people like us here on this forum that are from NA, have to ultimately move on to something else.

I think a good time to release would be around the end of the year when people are looking for new vehicle sales. If the Nissan Kicks is appealing enough, people would still go for it a few months later, though like you said, we can't wait forever.

I've always heard April-May was typically the best time for sales. Not a lot of people really like buying new cars in the winter time because it's a dirty time of year and vehicles get put through a lot more abuse n that season.
