Just wanted to share this video review of the new Nissan Kicks. Elana seemed relatively impressed with the materials/styling in the cabin, especially considering how affordable it is. It seems like a smart move by Nissan to offer a premium features, such as the sound system as they believe that's a clear differentiator amongst competitors. Nissan should be applauded for just how much they packaged into this vehicle, with even the base model having features not traditionally found in a budget car.

Fingers crossed that we see more of the Juke's DNA in the Kicks next refresh. Not only would it benefit from more power, but AWD should also be an option. I know a lot of CUV's are being sold with CVT's, but when mated to a small 125hp engine, there's not a whole lot of fun to be had here.

Great review that helped me to see that the Kicks isn't entirely mundane. Its my biggest concern being priced how it is and with the specs on paper.
However a Juke owner I know felt it lacked get up and go and power.

The Juke was pretty capable in its Nismo trim, though I doubt that Nissan has any interest of offering a similar variant here. I don't really know how much interest there is in performance oriented CUV's as typically they are bought as commuter vehicles.

Just seen how Nissan released a NISMO version of the Leaf, but only for Japan.
From that at least we can see they're still pushing it, even on the least sporty platform.
That leads me to believe eventually something will come to the Kicks, it has no where near the complex hardware the Leaf does.

The Nismo Leaf really doesn't make much sense, but at least it's an indication that the performance trim won't go away with upcoming electrics. I would like to see Nissan offer Nismo branded aftermarket parts instead of just unique trims per model.
