My 2018 kicks battery wants to work when it wants to work. I thought something was draining it so I make sure everything is completely shut off and I've not had any issues for a couple months. Then out of the blue it fails on me again. Slow start in the am. Then I parked it for 30 min. Nothing but fast clicking. The fast clicking even sounded like it got stuck a couple seconds. Got a ride. Came back a few hours later it started right up. Went home. Shut off. Tried it again to run to mailbox was fine. Hour later tried to go to store. Nothing but fast clicking!!! HELP!!!!

To me it sounds like something is draining your battery while the car is off. Need someone to check the electrical drain on the system when shut off. If it is too high, some investigation must be done to pin point the culprit. Also could be a bad battery not holding a charge or a bad alternator not fully charging the battery.

Any other extra accessories like Aftermarket alarm or do you have a cell phone charger that goes to the cigarette lighter? It could also be a bad or battery going bad. It could be a 2017 battery in a 2018 vehicle.
batteries mostly only last 4-5 years no matter how exspensive. i dont know about parasitic draw. tammylittle314 sounds like you need a new batt. by your description. some parts stores will load test your batt. if you or a friend has a multimeter it should have a reading of 12.7 volts. if it only has say 12.2-12.4 volts its a gonner. Tom. good luck.

Also confirm the cable connections at the battery terminals are tight.

first these kicks use a battery shut off after 10 minutes feature even dash cams plugs into the cig lighers shut off after 10 minutes after you arm the alarm its located on the battery terminals the negative side its a black box on the terminal that monitors stuff and tells you its shutting off now to save power if you have drianing issues test the battery my kicks had a bad battery at 1.2 years old its 1.11 years old now with a new bat installed so brand new car they are made in mexico that 60 month thing is a lie or what ever it says on it get a good batt one from sears you know the ones youll spend about 150 or more bucks on it if its under warranty then the dealer will replace it free but an older kicks well its all up to you maybe they added the battery protection on the new cars so any one 2019 and older had this issue too mines a 2021 and still had the issue

My 20 SV Kicks has been giving me no key detected & malfunction codes. Would not start several times in the last 10 days but was able to get it to start after 10-15 minutes. Changed fob batteries twice still happened. This morning same codes and then died. Called Roadside Assistance they came started it right up with jump. Went straight to dealer they said my battery was bad. In Feb during routine diagnostics dealer said my battery was bad and replaced it. I had no issues with starting then. Car has 35,600 miles on it bought new.
OK, at the house we have 3, OK OK, now 2, stepson moved out, one of the Kicks(wife's, Executive model or about SR level in USA/Canada) had the battery replaced about 18 months ago, stepson's(Sense, 5MT) about the same time. These two are about a year older than mine(Sense 5MT), that will be 5 in August, I have NOT replaced the battery, have ran battery tests at the dealership and on a personal level with my Bosch and Schumacher battery testers and it still going strong, did replace the fob's battery out of a whim, was about 3yrs old and I simply don't trust those batteries.

I have a sound system and use the vehicle basically ONLY on weekend and don't drive more than 200 kms/week or during the weekend.

My dashcam I have it with a connector directly to the fuse box where is always "live". Mostly used when I am not parked at home, since I use a car cover, no need for the paint to get sunlight and rain for fun.

I did ask the dealership's shop for wife's battery back and had it tested, it still was at 90%, they just wanted to make a buck or 2.

How do I keep my batteries so long, is a question I get asked a lot; simple, I take a long drive, steady RPMs where I know the alternator is charging.

Wife's car had ABS/TC lights ON for a few days, DTCs showed 'Low Voltage' made a long trip, about 300kms total, issue was gone after first food stop at 50kms.

Manufacturers are installing the barest minimum in vehicles that need more. Probably, when I have to replace my OEM Varta, I will have to modify the engine bay to be able to install a larger AH capacity one.

Will keep you posted.
