I own a 2018 Nissan Kicks SR and would like to add a means to transport a motorbike on a carrier. I found carriers on the Google, but they require a hitch be mounted to the car.

First, is this a good idea? (It's a 300 pound motor scooter)
Second, does the quality of the carrier really matter? (Walmart has one for less than 150.00)
Third, how does a Kicks Owner get a hitch installed?

Any advice?

Thanks

You can find a CURT trailer hitch from etrailer.com. I installed one on my Nissan Rogue, but decided against it on the Kicks, since the install was kind of convoluted.

Go to Uhaul. They installed my hitch for about $20.00 above what I could have ordered one and installed it myself. It's worth the 20..... I use a spare hauler basket on the back to carry extra stuff on long fishing trips.
Be aware that all the hitches I have come across have a 200 lb. tongue rate so I'm not sure about hauling your scooter. That seems like it would be a strain. Ask your dealer or the Uhaul company about it.

I installed my myself. Took about 45 minutes using a lift in my shop.
The rear frame horn holes need to be enlarged and the muffler shield needs to be trimmed.
I'm not using for towing , but rather for a bike mount.
