What brand fuel are you running? The mpg hit could be you are using fuel that has way too much ethanol. Are you fueling up with E85 or E88 ? If you are, stop. Octane may be higher.. just means it burns hotter. But there's less energy.

We don't drive in the city much but for a test we purposely reset the mpg counter when we drove to the nissan dealership in warwick. going over the bridge there's always a backup from Seekonk, MA to the 195 Split in Providence, and construction around Cranston RI.. not a fun ride but got to test Adaptive Cruise, we averaged only 29mpg then.
